Typography
I went with a font that uses all upper case letters. My handwriting is all caps and I really like that effect. I know in the digital world that all caps is a sense of being angry or yelling. I would changed that in my font choice, moving away from that stereotype and I believe that the correct use of punctuation should determine emotion. Last Saturday I found an interesting point that some retail stores use all caps in there signs. Oddly enough, their competitors use regular format. In all the picture that I posted, all the stores that use all caps are ones that I prefer over the competition. I also did a handwriting analysis on the font type and those results are on the bottom of the page.

You tend to move confidently in the world and don't need much encouragement in order to believe in yourself in general. You are self controlled, idealistic, ambitious, and intuitive.Your general outlook on life is positive and you tend to be optimistic. Its likely that you enjoy throwing a good party, and just don't like being cooped up all evening. And once Friday afternoon comes, you're probably often right ready to bolt out to find the weekend's next social event! So you kind of like to hide behind the curtain of convenience, huh? Prefer not to have people know the "real you" unless you want them to.Normalcy doesn't bother you. In fact, it may feel downright comfortable to you most of the time. You are into control. You probably don't have a lot of patience with what you'd call "those overly-emotional people" because that's something you just don't know a whole lot about.Monday, January 31, 2011
Design Evaluation - Darren Chase
After the initial release of the first 6 pieces GG Ltd. wanted to hit a more public scene. They wanted to expand to more collectors than just who were going to the conventions. Plus they started to pick up a few more licensing right from movies such as The Matrix, Harry Potter, and Hellboy. This package is a transition from to original to go into the retail market. Being sold in secondary retailers such as, Tower Records, FAO, and Sam Goody, GG put a little more effort into the packaging. I still believe this is a poor example and so did most of the public. People were not willing to spend the $45-$80 each on a simple package with a couple repeated around the box. There is no real need for similar pictures in that close of a proximity. And still on the back of the box is boring information that has been overly repeated about the company.

The use of context
I was walking around Costco yesterday and happen to see this picture. It was a display for their photo lab. It caught my eye quick and blew me away. Talking about context in class, I thought this picture is a good representation of line, form, and contrast. I say contrast because of the lighting in the shadow areas of the buildings, my eye wonders into those areas wondering what is going on over there. You also get the 3 dimensional feelings from the buildings because of the use of lines.
